Circuit Rider: As part of the New London County Land Trust Advancement Initiative organized by the Connecticut Land Conservation Council (CLCC), providing stewardship training and one-on-one mentoring to land trusts in southern and western Connecticut. The goals of this project are to build organization stewardship capacity and map all participating land trust holdings to facilitate regional conservation planning and collaboration.
Land Management: Manage land trust fee properties and conservation easements, which includes: property monitoring & enforcement; grant writing to help fund land acquisitions and habitat restoration projects; trail design, construction, maintenance and mapping; locating boundaries and posting; and project management for restoration projects.
Conservation Planning: Identify and document property conservation values and assist with drafting conservation easements, working with qualified conservation organizations and/or easement donors to assure projects are consistent with Land Trust Alliance's Standards and Practices and IRS requirements.
Management Plans & Baseline Documentation Reports
In order to qualify for Land Trust Alliance's national land trust accreditation or legal defense insurance programs, land trusts must have a baseline report for every conservation easement they hold and a property management plan for every fee property. Brawley Consulting Group has prepared over 300 baseline reports and/or management plans for more than twenty different conservation organizations, including Connecticut Forest & Park Association, Connecticut Farmland Trust, Weantinoge Heritage Land Trust and Open Space Institute Land Trust.
Habitat & Farmland Restoration Projects:
Specialize in securing funding for and managing habitat restoration projects. Recent projects include farm infrastructure and fisheries habitat restoration at Babbling Brook Farm in Sherman, invasive species control at five Kent Land Trust preserves, early successional habitat restoration at the Strauss Preserve in Sherman.

Trail Assessments, Construction and Mapping: Have designed, constructed and restored hiking trails in Sherman, Cornwall, Watertown and Danbury, CT. Have worked with Clare Cain, Trail Stewardship Director at Connecticut Forest & Park Association to conduct trail assessments in Danbury and Watertown, Connecticut. In 2010 received $124,000 Housatonic River Natural Resources Damage (NRD) grant to construct an accessible wetland boardwalk at the Wimisink Preserve in Sherman, CT. Currently building trails on two public Preserves in Litchfield for the Litchfield Land Trust.
Water Quality Monitoring: Assessments of lake and pond water chemistry and watershed conditions.
Wildlife Surveys: Surveys of bird populations, mammals and amphibian and reptiles for land management planning and environmental impact easements.
Geographic Information Systems (GIS): Using ESRI ArcMap 10.4 software, create maps to be used for site analysis, trails, grant applications and presentations. Examples of these mapping projects are illustrated throughout this website.
